If you are what you wear, then a well-tailored Italian suit is must-have for fashionable men. Canali is one of the leading Italian brands in the premium segment, and remains one of the outstanding and still independent Italian luxury brands, owned by the Canali family for 84 years. “We only want to make quality products,” says Canali Commercial Director Paolo Canali, and third generation of the family, in an exclusive interview with Forbes Indonesia during a visit to the Jakarta. It has its own production centers in Italy with more than 1,600 employees worldwide. In addition to its 180 boutiques, a number that continues to grow, and the brand can also be found in over 1,000 retail stores in more than 100 countries across the globe. Yet despite its size, Canali always takes an artisanal approach, using only premium materials and all products are still handmade.

Indonesia is also not an exception. The brand has boutiques in top shopping malls, including the ground floor of Plaza Indonesia mall in Jakarta. The brand partnered with Trans Fashion Indonesia, a subsidiary of the CT Corp that is owned by tycoon Chairul Tanjung. Last March Canali reopened its boutique in Plaza Indonesia. “It’s important to keep in contact with our partners and understand the base product for the market,” Paolo says about his third visit to Indonesia. “The key is to stay relevant to our customers everywhere in the world.”
