Do your career and life goals intersect?
Is it possible to live in a world where our work lives and our personal lives seamlessly blend as one? There are many trends that suggest that over time, our personal lives and work lives will come closer together and integrate. Organisations are giving their employees more flexibility, and people are keen to pursue their passions at work. A few trends are furthering this concept of work-life integration.
The new generation of happy workers
A new generation is entering the workforce — Generation Z. Broadly defined as people born after 1995, this generation is different from the three previous ones in their approach to work. For starters, they plan to pick their job based on purpose and not just their pre-defined skill-sets or degrees. In a recent survey conducted by Talerang, we found that passion and interest are key drivers (contributing more than 40%) when Generation Z is making career decisions. Passion counts more than skills, aptitude, or previous experiences, which count for under 10% each! While they might struggle to find true meaning at their workplace, they are on a continuous journey to do so. This generation of passionate workers strives to see their work and personal life as contributors to the same set of life goals.
