For Kishore Kumar Jain, the founder of Khazana Jewellers, success is all about perseverance, hard work, the ability to seize opportunities and a deep understanding of the market. Constantly reinventing trends in the field of precious ornamental jewellery may be no mean task, but for him it is a legacy he loves to carry forward. Managing 55 stores in India and abroad with élan, he has many plans up his sleeve for his brand. MARWAR meets the man behind the brilliant jewels.
When his father passed away in 1978, Kishore Jain did what he had to as a responsible son: take over his father’s gold business and turn it into a grand jewellery establishment. Thirty-seven years later, Kishore Kumar Jain, the founder of Khazana Jewellery, attributes his huge success story to the principles deeply rooted in him by his father Bhoormal Jain’s exemplary life that was guided by hard work.
With his business empire now comprising 50 showrooms in India and five in the UAE that generate a turnover of ₹5,000 crore, the success story of Khazana Jewellery is a rare mix of dedication, hard work and unparalleled business acumen.
Formative years
Kishore Kumar Jain’s family originally comes from Takhatgarh village, in Pali district of Rajasthan. “My father, the late Bhoormal Jain, moved to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh in 1954 in search of a livelihood. He started his jewellery wholesale business, Jewellery House, which supplied studded jewellery and plain gold jewellery to jewellers. His benevolent nature and hard work earned him many customers in and around Nellore and Chennai. I used to spend my time with him after school, closely watching him run his business,” says Jain, reminiscing about those first business lessons.
After his father’s demise, he continued to run Jewellery House in Nellore till 1989 and then moved to Chennai with his family (comprising wife Ramila and daughter Isha and son Ankit) to try his luck in retail.
