HOW TO GO ABOUT APPLYING MANAGEMENT THEORY IN A CLASSROOM SITUATION

Management is a fine art. Also, it is a fine craft as well. Actually speaking, it is both rolled into one and it helps people perform better and brighter in their disciplines in lesser time. Management theories deal with such factors. They motivate people and egg them on to do well in their chosen fields.

In a given classroom situation, management practices have a multi-pronged approach. First, they help the faculty and the training staff in their endeavors to be part-time students themselves. What management advocates is that learning is a lifelong experience. There are no full-stops in this aspect. This is one arena where learning never stops, never finishes, always goes on. Also, the teachers are not just plain and simple professors. They, in fact, don the role of full time and full-blown mentors. Involved in student betterment all the time, their role is very variegated and totally of big proportion. It does not end with the class bell ringing. It goes on far beyond that. They in fact mould the students to become what the industry and their future employers expect of them. The industries to which management b-schools are feeders, have certain expectations of which type of students they wish for. Rather, not just which type of students but which all level of qualifications, attributes and skills the students should have is what they want well-understood.

Advice for b-schools: Know what the industry wants of your students
