With the cocktail culture booming in India, the entire bar community has now tangibly evolved. Along with the growth in the current cocktail culture, a good bar layout and design is imperative not only to increase profits and efficiency at the bar but also to boost the bartender’s morale as they have a defined workspace to prepare drinks.
While designing a layout of the bar, it is crucial to use a design approach based on the principle of ergonomics as it aims at bringing efficiency and quality out of a cocktail curator. This is not withstanding the fact that the functionality of a bar counter may differ from bar to bar. For instance, a cocktail-heavy bar has to be designed and custom built in a way to create more cocktails than regular spirits. Similarly, if it’s a casual bar that serves beers and straight drinks, then the bar has to be designed keeping in mind those sensibilities. The most important aspect while designing such bar spaces is to ensure maximum beverage output with minimum movement and effort. In other words, the designs have to be ergonomic in approach and the equipment needs to be very intuitive to use. So a bartender, on a busy night, works effortlessly and literally glides around the bar, even if his place is packed with customers.
