While she denies any offscreen ‘raabta’ with co-star Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon confides she’s all filmi when in love. Raghuvendra singh comes back surprised.
Heropanti was Tiger Shroff’s debut vehicle and while he did bedazzle us with his kicks and punches, the quiet beauty of his co-debutante, Kriti Sanon, didn’t go unnoticed. In her next, Dilwale, she was sharing screen space with heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and youngster Varun Dhawan but she didn’t let the fact deter her and held her own. She’s slowly blossoming into an assured actor, who not only looks good but acts well too. Kriti has got her heart in the right place. She’s here for the long run and wants to leave her mark in the annals of Hindi cinema, much like her ideal, Madhuri Dixit. Presenting excerpts from a heart-to-heart chat where she comes clean on her relationship with Raabta co-star Sushant Singh Rajput, among other things…
What was special about shooting for Bareilly Ki Barfi(BKB)?
The film is based in Bareilly. So the dialect has a UP flavour. I watched Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa to get a hang of the rustic language. Also, it was exciting to work with Ayushmann Khurrana. A spontaneous actor inspires freshness in your performance as well. I try to be natural. If you dig into memory and seek out some purani ghatna (past incident), it is scary at times and can affect you negatively.
How difficult was it to make it as an actor considering you’re an outsider?
Everyone has to struggle. Luckily, my struggle wasn’t too long. I’ve not attended any course in acting. I’ve just done a few ads. When I moved to Mumbai from Delhi, I felt lost. As for the casting couch, I haven’t experienced it. I just didn’t know how to approach people or which audition to go for. Here, they don’t meet you unless they know you. Luckily, I signed up with a talent agency. That was a huge help. Otherwise, you just have to wait patiently.
