While one is wowing the audience with her acting chops, the other is ruling the hearts of his listeners through his evocative songs. Mrunal Thakur and Guru Randhawa recently collaborated on the video of the song Aise na chhoro. Mrunal, who had her hands full doing dramatic roles in films like Dhamaka and Jersey decided that doing a music video would provide an escape from the daily routine of the sets. Guru came on to the project wanting to do a song, which required him to bring a side of him that hadn’t been explored before. We caught up with the duo post the release of their music video, which was shot amidst the snow-clad beauty of Kashmir. Excerpts from a candid interview with the duo who had a whale of a time shooting the song together...
Tell us about your collaboration on Aise na chhoro?
Guru Randhawa: Bhushan Kumar sent the song to me and I loved it, it was something new for me. I recorded the song and later they told me that Mrunal would be joining the team for the video. I knew she’s a consummate performer so from that day I started sharpening my acting skills. (Laughs) I took acting classes for six months as I was scared that no one would look at me in front of her. Then later I was told the video wouldbe shot in Kashmir, so then I started prepping for the cold.
Mrunal Thakur: Let me tell you, the shot in the song where we are walking towards the church, was the first time we met each other.
GR: Doesn’t it look so natural? (Laughs) See that’s art.
