Their bags are packed, their tans are done and they're looking for love. Here, some of this year's Islanders tell us why they're ready for action

GEMMA OWEN, 19 BUSINESS OWNER FROM CHESTER, CHESHIRE

The daughter of former England soccer ace Michael Owen and his wife Louise Bonsall, Gemma is an international dressage rider. She was once whisked to Paris by a guy on a second date so she’s clearly used to star treatment.

She runs her own swimwear brand, OG Swimwear, which launched in March and will no doubt get a boost in sales over the coming weeks.

Earlier in the year she was left fuming when she was mistaken for an OnlyFans model whose explicit photos were leaked online. Ouch!

Gemma describes herself as “fun, flirty and fiery”. She’d be happy to compete for a guy in the villa, “but in a nice, respectful way.”

She admits she’s very competitive, and not just when it comes to men. She says, “Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player. I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old. I’ve travelled across Europe competing in big competitions.

“I would say I’m very competitive. [When it comes to relationships] I will always go for what I want. But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection.”

A word of warning to the men though. “A lot of things give me the ick – bad hygiene, someone whose breath smells, their hair isn’t nice or they don’t look after themselves,” she says. “A few clothing items can give me the ick, like someone who wears trainers with long socks!”
