Jay-Z has always been a private man. After his sister-in-law Solange Knowles attacked him in an elevator in 2014 – sparking reports the rapper had cheated on his wife Beyoncé – he kept quiet. (A vague statement that they’d ‘worked through it’ explained nothing.) When Bey released her 2016 album Lemonade, which introduced ‘Becky with the good hair’, Jay didn’t comment. Even when his own record 4:44 seemed to confess to womanising, he let the lyrics speak for themselves and stayed mum.
