A week on from her bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s pregnancy reveal, Perrie Edwards announced that she was also expecting her first baby, showcasing her growing belly in a black and white photo with footballer partner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. She captioned the beautiful picture, “So happy to be on this wild journey with my soulmate. Me + Him = You. We can’t wait to meet you baby Ox!”
And days later, all eyes were on Little Mix at London’s O2 Arena as they proudly displayed their bumps on the red carpet for the first time, alongside bandmate Jade Thirwall, at this year’s Brit Awards.
Following a challenging year for the band – which saw their fourth member Jesy Nelson quit – it proved to be Little Mix’s night, as they broke records by becoming the first girl band to be awarded Best British Group.
Taking to the stage, the girls thanked their former bandmate Jesy during their tearful speech, where they spoke out against white male dominance, misogyny, sexism and a lack of diversity in the music industry. They also dedicated the accolade to their predecessors, adding, “The fact that a girl band has never won this award really does speak volumes, so this award isn’t just for us, it’s for… all of the incredible female bands!”
Perrie later took to instagram to say “On cloud 9… we just made history together.”
Chatting to show host Jack Whitehall, the girls squirmed when he asked how they’d passed the time during the recent lockdown. He joked, “I wasn’t going to ask it...the proof is in the pudding. When you weren’t making Little Mixes...”
“My dad will be watching this!” Perrie cringed.
