Some people saunter through life with an air of effortless cool, and Ashley Banjo is definitely one of them. Since winning Britain’s Got Talent 11 years ago with his dance group Diversity (beating none other than Susan Boyle to secure the top spot), Ashley has since enjoyed a successful TV career as a result of his natural charisma and talent.
This has included being a Dancing On Ice judge, teaching celebs how to strip to raise cancer awareness on The Real Full Monty and helping singletons find love on Flirty Dancing. Ashley, 31, is also still travelling the country performing with Diversity.
Here, the star – who shares oneyear-old daughter Rose and welcomed son Micah in March with wife Francesca Abbott – opens up about how difficult home life has been the past few months...
How have you found lockdown?
It has been tough, especially at the beginning. We had Micah right at the start, and my wife had a Caesarean so she couldn’t really move. We had an 11-month-old, a newborn and the dogs. We were a new family approaching life with two new babies. It’s difficult anyway, but then we couldn’t have any outside help. It was a challenge and a very steep learning curve. My wife is now looking after the kids and running the house while I’m working. She’s Superwoman.
