After filming Normal People, Paul Mescal revealed he wants a relationship that’s “something similar to Connell and Marianne”. And now the 24-year-old appears to be putting that plan into action as he’s reportedly signed up to celebrity dating app Raya.
The news that Paul is looking for love came just days after it was revealed he’d enjoyed breakfast with American singer Phoebe Bridgers, 25, at an Irish café after she flew in from the US. But earlier this year he confessed that finding a “deep connection emotionally and physically” like his character “might be a dragon that I might be chasing for a long time”.
The star will no doubt be a popular member on the exclusive app, as since he graced our screens as Connell Waldron in the BBC drama he’s captured the heart of the nation. With his piercing blue eyes and ripped physique, it’s no wonder he’s been tipped to play the next James Bond. He’s even earned a lead actor Emmy nomination for his portrayal, which is not something many people can say for their first TV role.
Paul’s legion of fans have been eager to know where they can watch the star next – and now their prayers have been answered. Starting this week, he is starring in Channel 5 drama The Deceived, playing builder Sean McKeogh. The thriller, which deals with gaslighting, psychological abuse, lust and betrayal, tells the story of Cambridge student Ophelia, who falls in love with her married lecturer. However, their affair results in tragedy.
