There’s been a slight chill in the loving marriage of Sonny and Carly in the wake of Julian’s acquittal over Carly’s fear that Sonny will incite a new wave of Port Charles violence by going after Julian. She has implored her hubby to let the matter lie, but she’s unconvinced — and with good reason — that her words will have the effect she desires.

“Of course, she’s certainly hoping they will,” begins Co-Head Writer Shelly Altman. “Ever since the incident with Morgan, with Kiki having been shot on the docks, Carly has had to rethink her own position about Sonny’s profession. She just sees this as a never-ending cycle, that if Sonny isn’t the one to put a stop to this, that it is never going to stop. And she just has this dread, of course not knowing where it will go, that this will just be constantly haunting them in some way.”

Sonny calls Carly out on the emotional distance between them. Previews Laura Wright (Carly), “He’s like, ‘You’re giving me the cold shoulder. Why?’ and she says, ‘You know why.’ It’s emotional. It’s pain; it’s reality. It’s so cool. It’s not the old Sonny/Carly stuff [of them screaming at each other].”
