Google's Post-Mobile Future

Google had the biggest and most impressive product launch event last October. Not only did the search giant unveil its successor to the Pixel and Pixel XL lines, which is what many expected, it also unloaded a bevy of new gadgets: Google Home assistants, new Daydream VR headsets, a stunning yet expensive pen-enabled Chromebook convertible laptop, and new Pixel Buds Bluetooth headsets that are supposed to be able to translate 40 languages in real time.

Google also unveiled Google Clips, which puts the power of Google Photos in a smart GoPro-sized camera that constantly shoots photos and videos using algorithms and by learning about the subjects it is capturing.

Google’s A.I. is the next level

The most important thing about this event was that Google changed the conversation. It is competing with Apple and Samsung in smartphones and it seems to be counter punching Microsoft’s Surface line as well. The new Pixel phones are solid handsets and capable competitors to premium devices out there. They match up in specs and sizing, and even feature impressive computational photography that they say can beat even dual camera setups in quality.
