Living In Front Of A Crowd

Jerry Seinfeld once put it hilariously when he said, “According to most studies, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death.” Now, I can’t say for sure if this was based on any factual data, but despite it seemingly intended to be humorous, he does make a strong point.

From the many people who I’ve come across, this has always been a hurdle that more than most have openly admitted to. And I can’t blame them! Not everyone is equipped to stammer and buckle in front of a big crowd. In my case, however, this is furthest from the truth.

I have been hosting for over a decade now, as of this writing. From small-scale affairs to large-scale events, from television programs to wedding receptions, I have been willingly bleeding my personality out in front of thousands of people throughout the years. And much like any other pursued profession, this was not something that had occurred to me overnight. Although, at a young age, I already knew that interpersonal communication was a particular strength of mine, it just did not occur to me yet that this could be something I could translate into a career—and a fun one at that!
