A modern take on The Wife of Bath as our columnist ponders a strange admission
At some point over the weekend, usually on a Sunday evening between my first glass of wine and Countryfile, I phone City Wife to catch up on the latest drama. By that I mean her personal goings-on rather than whichever television series is currently gripping the nation.
This week I happen to be in the car with Spousey when I call. We’re on speakerphone though when my friend reveals she’s flicking through the latest edition of Menopause Monthly which apparently, despite its title, is either unexpectedly early or, alarmingly, days late. My other half does his best to ignore our conversation.
Why amI not at home sipping rosé, CW ponders? Ah, that’s because we’ve enjoyed a long weekend in Bath where we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary.
The city has special memories for us because it’s where we bought our wedding rings.
