Down Memory Lane
Sussex Life|February 2019

Heritage manager Jonathan Seaman is one of the curators of the popular Eastbourne Remembers exhibition at the town’s Pavilion. He speaks to Fay Watson about his inspirations for the collection and the joy of finding lost things.

Down Memory Lane

You don’t have to be from Eastbourne or know its history to take something from Eastbourne Remembers.

We always try to create exhibitions that will reach the widest audience possible while also basing them all on objects and stories from the Eastbourne area. Obviously this isn’t an easy thing to do well but with Eastbourne Remembers the overwhelming response has been that we have achieved just that and that there really is something for everyone without losing the overarching narrative of memory.

Memory by its very nature is a personal thing.
