Megan Thee Stallion has dropped an epic collab with her idol, Beyoncé. We look at the rapper’s meteoric rise

SHUT up!”

That’s the first thing she said when she heard her number one idol in the whole world wanted to remix the song that had put her firmly on the music stage.

But it was true: Beyoncé – the queen herself – had asked to collaborate on a jigged-up version of Savage. And Megan Thee Stallion could barely breathe.

“It seemed like a dream,” the 25-year-old rapper told Apple Music host Ebro Darden.

“But in the back of my head I just always knew that at some point in my life, I had to do a song with Beyoncé.”

And now that dream has come true. After she received confirmation that the collab was on, “I cried,” Megan said.

“I had to call my grandma. I was like, ‘Is this really gonna drop? Are we doing this for real, for real?’”

After the track came out recently – and trended immediately on social media – Megan spoke to her hero in person.

“She was just super supportive,” she told Essence magazine. “She was just like, ‘Keep going, keep going hard. You really got it, you do’.

“Beyoncé is somebody who’s really inspired me so just to know she’s even heard of my music or has watched me as an artist come up, doing what I’m doing, and that she’s rocking with me enough to even do a song with me – that’s really something that touched my heart. I mean, I’ve looked up to Beyoncé since I was young.”

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Megan was fixated on the meteoric rise of the Spirit singer – and the fact that Beyoncé was raised just 15 minutes away in the same city only served to cement Megan’s adoration.
