A name to reckon with in the world of music, teacher, singer and composer Aniket Khandekar says that, earlier, getting into an art form full-time and choosing it as a career was extremely difficult. "People did not understand the importance art has with regards to our culture or the amount of relentless work that goes into honing skills to perfection," explains the mechanical engineer by qualification. "Being taken seriously as a musician, unless you sang in movies, was a task. But, with the emergence of reality shows and YouTube, the scenario got a lot better, as artistes got a platform that helped them reach a wider audience. Now with social media, anyone and everyone has access to people all around the world, making it easy for artistes to not only get recognition but also validity through followers or comments," he opines.
