How long have you been into a home cinema, and what was the first setup you had?
I’ve been in the home cinema for roughly 25 years. Back then it was a 5.1 midi hi-fi system and a VCR, plus a 5ft, 4:3 screen, and low-res projector.
I’ve been in Home Cinema Choice magazine before many, many years back and this is my second build project, in another house. It’s been done very slowly over three years as we had to build a loft room first, so I could use the old bedroom for the new cinema.
What kit's in your system?
My kit includes Mission speakers that I’ve had for a while now. They are in a 9.1 set up at the moment with a Bowers & Wilkins PV1 subwoofer.
My sources are a Pioneer BDP-LX54, Panasonic DMP-UB900 (4K Blu-ray player for future use), Toshiba HD DVD player, Sony PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and an Apple TV.
The projector is an Epson EH-TW9000 with an anamorphic lens, used with a 123in Screen Innovations 2.35:1 screen.
I also have four ceiling speakers for when I upgrade the amp to Dolby Atmos.
Who was responsible for the installation? Did you get help from professionals?
I completed the whole build and setup myself. The units bought from IKEA for gaming statues from First4Figures have custom lighting installed, and there's a custom unit to fit in on the top seating area. Ceiling panels were just for effect and allowed speaker cables and LED lighting to be installed.
