HAVING BEEN one of the top matchmakers for the past 10 years, I’ve dealt with some of the hottest girls out there, many of which are models and celebrities. As a former cover model and actress myself, I have a fairly accurate idea of what these women are looking for in their ideal man. As you will read from my 12 pointers below, it boils down to a combination of common sense and “good, old-fashioned values”. While chivalry has been said to be dead, so are the days when women sat at home and pined for a man. Despite today’s gender equality, deep down, a lot of women yearn for the Mad Men-era etiquette that made dating enjoyable. My pointers incorporate modern twists on many of these old-school manners. If you adopt just a few of these, you might just find yourself dating the Maxim model of your dreams.

1. DON’T: Do not start a conversation by telling her how hot she is. She hears it all day, every day from men trying to pick her up. It’s not special and won’t impress her.

DO: Instead, try a common interest to talk about. Maybe a hobby, restaurant, movie, or maybe something about that moment. Be witty, interesting, and funny. Make everything count. This is your opening act.

2. DON’T: Social media and texting. Dating today has dramatically changed with the introduction of texting and social media. It encourages daters to be more casual in their intentions and relationships. Before the advent of texting and social media, you actually had to pick up the phone and talk to someone; meet them in person. It leaves little room for misunderstandings. It’s all too easy to not put any effort in.
