Nicole Kidman talks marriage, mothers and her Monterey mystery…
Former lawyer celeste Wright
(Nicole Kidman) went through hell at the hands of her abusive husband in the first series of Big Little Lies.
But despite his death, things aren’t getting any easier for the Monterey mum as she grapples with conflicting emotions about dead husband Perry and the arrival of her mother-in-law Mary Louise (Meryl Streep), who’s on a mission to discover what happened to Perry.
We caught up with superstar Kidman, who won an Emmy for the role, to hear what’s in store…
What’s going through celeste’s mind in season two?
She’s dealing with becoming a single mother to her two little boys. She had a very, very strong attachment to Perry, so to have him taken so violently has created trauma for her in a different way. There’s a lot going on.
So she is grieving even though he was abusive?
