‘On Interior Design Masters, I said, “Wouldn’t it be funny if I turned up in a different mode of transport every week?” It was one of those stupid ideas, and, of course, they said, “Love it, Alan!”

‘Well, as the series goes on, it gets more and more out there, and there’s one in Tunbridge Wells with this 1930s sports car – I couldn’t drive it, it was terrifying! I was bunny-hopping, shouting and swearing down the high street; someone said I looked like Toad of Toad Hall!’
