A coronation & 3 JUBILEES

So here's a reminder of the big four national celebrations we've already had for Elizabeth II during her 70-year reign...

CORONATION DAY 1953

The Queen acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952, aged just 25, on the death of her beloved father King George VI and, 16 months later, on 2 June 1953, she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II in a ceremony full of pomp and pageantry. She and the Duke of Edinburgh were taken from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in the Gold State Coach pulled by eight grey horses, as enthusiastic crowds lined the streets.

The Queen was crowned with the golden St Edward's Crown, weighing 4lb 12oz, by the Archbishop of Canterbury in front of 8,251 attendees, including a young Prince Charles and Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. Her coronation was watched on TV by 27m people in the UK (out of a population of 36m). Later, the Queen appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony six times to a rapturous reception from huge crowds below.
