Wrestling in the Northeast of England was once a barren place.
There was a handful of companies but only one or two ran shows worth attending and even then the wrestlers that were booked tended to be the same from show to show. Yes, the shows may be good but overall the scene could be described as stagnant at best.
All that changed in December 2015 when Absolute Wrestling launched, making the Northeast their home location and seeming intent on bringing new talent to the area to help them put on fantastic family shows. Neil Rogers went along to their Pride of the North show on a historic night for the company as they crown the winner of the King of the North tournament.
Since launching one year ago, the list of names Absolute have brought to the Northeast include Colt Cabana, Bubblegum and Toni Storm all of whom have made their debut in the area and created new fans for themselves along with drawing their existing fans to Absolute’s shows. Although each of those wrestlers have been successes in their own right arguably the most successful has been ‘Mr Massive’ Chuck Cyrus. His over the top personality, endless charisma and impressive array of power moves has made him a favourite for every crowd that he has performed in front of.
