It became her source of luck — her talisman, might we add — which saw her through loss and love, and she drew energy from it. Bold and instinctive, the symbol of bravery and renewal seemed to fit perfectly into Chanel’s life. It’s the reason why she saw the majestic feline as her guardian angel and did everything to keep the energy and aura of the lion by her side — marble, bronze or wood lion sculptures peppered her apartment at 31 Rue Cambon, standing guard over their owner’s intimate living space, while depictions of the animal were deliberately weaved into many of her fashion and high jewellery creations.
