Voellk is a portmanteau of Dutch and German words that loosely means ‘a feeling’. It is also the name of a new Sydney stealth style label focused on eliciting emotional responses of pleasure, confidence and serenity from all who wear it.
Founded by Agnieszka Cortese, who is from Poland, and Jan Marie Jacobson, who was born in Chicago with Polish and German ancestry, Voellk aims to bring something more to fashion than the latest trend or must have shoe or bag. “We wanted to evoke a sense of fulfilment, completion and beauty, and ‘Voellk’ is the word we came up with to represent that,” Cortese says. “Our goal is to make timeless collections that can be loved beyond the moment and to recover traditional crafts and skills that exist beyond fashion.”
