She is not who we think she is. As she welcomes Metro into her home and wardrobe, we debunked the truth about Kim Jones. She’s neither an influencer nor a fashion blogger—and it gets even better.
This may come as a surprise to everyone, but Kim Jones is neither an influencer nor a fashion blogger. Sure, at one point she did a lot of fashion blogging early in her digital career, and subsequently influenced many of her followers’ fashion tastes since. Yet, neither moniker, even when combined, seems to encapsulate what she is now—and what she will be next. A little confusion over this revelation is natural; after all, she’s been labeled as such by many profiles over the years. But that’s just one of the many misconceptions about Kim we’re unfolding.
What’s most important is the name that she gives herself—or more, that best describes the breadth of her work. Kim identifies as a “Digital Creative,” a moniker that as of the moment is unofficial jargon among fashion and beauty professionals. “Digital Creative is really just the best way I felt that I could communicate the scope of work that I really do. I’m a very curious person by nature, and there’s a lot I want to explore as a creative,” explains Kim, who has experimented with editorial, photography, writing, and film directing (a new and exclusive Louis Vuitton short was just released last month!), plus managing her own digital enterprise, The Fore.
To some extent, she is a Jill of many (digital) trades, though she doesn’t feel the need to be a master of any. This perpetual limbo may seem uneasy to some, but that’s how she likes it. “As a person, I am drawn to the unfamiliar. It’s what landed me here in the Philippines in the first place. I wanted a challenge. I wanted to be uncomfortable, and I think there’s no better way to explore something than to launch head first.”
