Lula Fa reveals what brought her to Kenya and what motivated her to start her Afro inspired fashion line, Voila by Lula.
What was your first interaction with fashion design?
I was born and raised in Cote d’Ivoire and later Benin. I will tell you an interesting thing, in West Africa, we are all designers. We never buy ready-made clothes but rather we go to the market and pick the fabrics that we like ourselves. We then go to the tailor and sit for hours with them describing exactly what we want. If you are a kid, your parents accompany you to the tailor. This is where I fell in love with fashion.
