How would you sum up your journey from Mona Lizza to Sara Loren?
I was born and bought up in Kuwait, my father named me Mona Lizza. Life changed for me when I lost my dad at 15 and I had to take care of my four sisters, my mum and my brother. As a teen, I was offered a commercial for Fair & Lovely and, honestly, I haven’t looked back since. The commercial snowballed into a slew of Pakistani films, which finally led me to the Bhatts and Murder 3. That was when Sara Loren was born. Sometimes, you got to let go of yourself to start afresh.
If you could swap lives with anyone in Bollywood, who would you choose?
Well, you probably haven’t been listening (laughs). For 25 years now, my life has been a mixed bag of highs and lows, but it has been beautiful and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me. I wouldn’t trade it, never.
The poster you would keep in your bedroom—Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir or Hrithik?
Nice try! Well, I think it has to be Leonardo Dicaprio. I am a huge admirer of his talent, his intelligence and his work for the environment. The man is phenomenal, just look at him… he is the complete package, if you know what I mean (winks).
