— In a decidedly bold and beautiful move, Vacheron Constantin unveils a completely new collection of watches created expressly for women. Called Égérie, which translates from French as “muse,” the new line is exceptional on multiple levels. Not only does it exemplify the brand’s haute horology craftsmanship and métiers d’arts talents, but also it takes inspiration from the finest details of haute couture and deftly blends them into a highly feminine timepiece. Of course, that may well be because Égérie was created by a female design team, led by a senior designer who has been with the brand for more than a decade.
Additionally, Égérie marks the first complete collection designed especially for women in decades, possibly in the brand’s history. “The notion of actual collections didn’t really start until the 1980s,” says Christian Selmoni, Heritage and Style Director for the brand. “While we made many watches for ladies over the years, especially in the 20th century, we don’t have any real examples of a collection dedicated to women before this, so this is a very important launch.”
