End-of-year self reflection can help you learn and grow from the year that was.
As we reach the end of another year, I always love to take stock and account for what I have achieved over the previous 12 months to determine how I have progressed, or even where I may have fallen short. Reflecting back on the past year can be very valuable, because your previous behaviour and decisions have brought you to where you are now. So, if you’re not happy with where you are, the first thing you need to do is identify and become aware of the decisions and behaviour that resulted in your current situation.
I’ve realised through past experience that becoming who you want to be, or consistently improving isn’t something that will happen automatically. Reflecting back on the past and making the necessary changes that will take you closer to your goal requires a concerted effort. You don’t become better by only wanting to be better. We become better by being better and doing things differently – do the same things over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity, as Albert Einstein once famously said.
The decision to make progress requires constant awareness of where you are, how you got there, and where you want to go. I would therefore like to challenge you to look back at the past year and address the following five factors:1. YOUR MINDSET
