This beautiful handpainted kitchen forms part of the major renovation of a detached family home in Co Down. Having lived in the property of a number of years the time had come for a change, to embrace modern open plan living. ‘We favoured the traditional handmade kitchen look and wanted a large open plan space with plenty of work surface space, and enough storage space for all the family. We love the location of our house and were keen to maximise its potential with a new bespoke kitchen,’ explains the clients.

It was after their initial visit Wrights Design House showroom that got the kitchen project well and truly underway. ‘We had seen previous projects by Wrights Design House, an loved what they do. We stopped off for a browse one afternoon to explore the options available to us.’

Dealing with designer, David Nelson, the project quickly began to take shape. The couple had a clear vision of the aesthetic they wanted for their kicthen and also how it would work on a practical level. ‘David was amazing, he listed to our brief before taking out a drawing board and started hand drawing ideas for the space. It give us a really good idea of the proportions of the space and what we could achieve in it. We really wanted to keep our Aga and brick overmantel so David set about developing concepts to integrate these coherently in the new scheme.’
