1 "Create your own pièce de résistance!"

'Mine is the kitchen. It reflects our personalities and shows off my love of colour and texture. I used terracotta to zone the dining area, while the existing cabinets were in good condition, so we resprayed them dark blue. My motto is revamp what you've got."

2 "Play the opposite of being safe with colour"

'Choosing a scheme is scary, especially when it comes to colour. There's a temptation to go for pale shades to brighten up a hall, but we used a dark, dramatic blue under the dado, which actually works to elongate the space and make it feel bigger and brighter."
