Soft flooring options remain a popular choice in the home, whether it is a fully carpeted room or a luscious rug on a wooden floor, we have it covered.
To help you on your way to choosing a carpet for the rooms of your home, David Cormack from Cormar Carpets has given us some advice to share that will help you on your way:
What should I be looking for when buying a carpet?
‘Wearability’ is a key consideration but measuring it is not straightforward. It can depend upon the fibre content of the yarn, the amount of yarn (or pile) in the carpet and the construction of the carpet.
Halls, stairs and landings are high traffic areas and need hard wearing practical carpets that maintain their appearance. Bedroom carpets do not receive such consistent use and therefore luxurious carpets with a longer pile height such as saxonies or shagpiles are more suitable.
Multi-weight carpets accommodate the trend for having the same carpet running through the home. It means you can upgrade or downgrade in each room, where necessary to save money.
More expensive, heavier piles are ideal for areas that receive the most footfall i.e. hallways. Living rooms and dining rooms still need a carpet that is resilient to wear and tear but can afford to choose a more middleweight pile and as bedroom carpets do not receive such consistent use, a lighter weight pile can be used.
