Ar. Shahen Mistry thoughtfully designs a sophisticated and luxurious show apartment for nahar builders in mumbai.
Designing a show apartment is always a challenge for any architect or designer as this is created to attract prospective buyers for its builder-client. So, a designer needs to keep things real, in scale and in sync with what the builder desires. With Nahar Builders wanting a spacious, luxurious, clutter-free and elegant look, principal architect Shahen Mistry of Shahen Mistry Designs curates such an ambience for the 1,234 sq. ft. (carpet area) apartment in Borivali, Mumbai.
A dark oak polished, decorative motif main door handle welcomes visitors into the abode, while a floor-to-ceiling mirror doubles up the spatial volume and opens up the narrow passage leading to a luxurious living room done up in a palette of beige, white and gold with a Buddha artwork. The three-seater beige sofa with black and gold cushions complements the side-tables and charcoal grey PU centre table. A soft rug and a black planter from OMA adds warmth to the overall composition. Two stylish chandeliers add to the luxury quotient. Curtains begin right from the ceiling to augment the feeling of spaciousness and evoke a look of grandeur. Instead of regular split air-conditioners, the designer has opted for a concealed cassette AC from Samsung.
A black laminated dining table with a metal curved base and chairs from Palatte Interiors add to the elegance of the space. The huge diagonally-cut mirror with rose gold beveled edges impart depth and also reflects the beautifully-crafted white PU console unit with rose gold legs at the other end. The kitchen from Metrika is neat and functional with in-built storage. Complementing the white composite counter and dado is the wine-coloured PU base unit. A large window in the centre floods the area with natural light and facilitates ventilation.
