Her career started with working for many architects and designers and taking up projects to gain experience in the field of interior design. “I wanted to be sure about the terms and how things were executed before starting something of my own. I knew more about furniture design, so I started spending hours and hours on sites trying to gain experience from craftsmen,” shares the designer. The initial hands-on approach luckily led to bigger projects which forced Vritima to realise that she needed someone to help. “Thus, I started initially with an intern for whom I cleared out a space in my basement, and Project 810 has been growing ever since,” smiles Vritima. Named after the address of the house where the designer has always lived in, Project 810 is rooted in contemporary India but inspired by the world. The firm has been dedicated to creating memorable spatial experiences for the larger part of the studio’s work. And recently they have branched out into a furniture division as well with their first collection called 810/One. “It was a passion project, facilitated by an injury that kept me on bed and away from the sites. Therefore, I started working on furniture, which honestly seemed like a natural progression for the brand anyway,” shares Vritima.
