1 PM Gati Shakti

Under the PM Gati Shakti scheme, highways will be expanded by 25,000 km in 2022–23. Besides, the allocation under the scheme has been increased to ₹19,000 crore - a 36 per cent increase from the previous year. This incremental allocation is a part of the government's rural development programmes. These plans will augur well for infrastructure companies.

BENEFICIARY IRB INFRASTRUCTURE

The company has extensive experience in the construction of roads and highways, with a portfolio comprising 23 road projects worth around ₹54,000 crore as of FY21. On the other hand, the construction business accounted for around 70 per cent of its total revenue during the same period. Till Q3FY22, it won EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts worth ₹7,200 crore.

2 Drone Shakti and a ban on drone import

With the 'Drone Shakti' scheme, the central government aims to incentivise start-ups engaged in drone manufacturing and other related solutions. Further, to promote the use of ‘Kisan drones', which will be used for various agriculture-related purposes, an agri-tech fund will be introduced through NABARD. Moreover, to spur the domestic manufacturing of drones, a total ban has been imposed on their import.

BENEFICIARY RELIANCE INDUSTRIES

Through its subsidiary ‘Reliance Strategic Business Ventures’, the company has made significant investments in Asteria Aerospace, a drone manufacturing start-up. In addition to manufacturing drones, the start-up provides an end-to-end drone-as-a-service solution to various sectors. Reliance Industries intends to become a key player in the drone industry and is likely to make more investments in Asteria Aerospace.
