How did tennis happen to you?

My family was interested in sports. If I were a guy then I would have probably been playing cricket like everyone else but I was a girl so I used to do a few other things like swim and play tennis and roller skate as well. I guess I happened to be more talented at tennis.

Did you ever think that you would reach where you’ve reached?

It was a dream. Of course everyone dreams.

I mean when you started…

When I started? No. I mean I started when I was six so it’s hard to dream at that age. But when you’re six, you just play for the fun of it, so I kept playing and enjoying it. When I was around 10 or 11, I started to feel that I was really good at it and maybe I should consider it as a career option or something. But I was still very young at that point and then your parents are guiding you. And then you dream of achieving everything that I have; it’s a dream come true for me. I mean everyone dreams of having this life and playing and doing the best that you can at what you love. Also I’ve been fortunate and blessed enough to be able to achieve my dreams.
