WHEN IT COMES TO DIVE WATCHES, there’s very little that can be done these days to impress anyone. Since Blancpain unveiled the first modern dive timepiece some 60-odd years ago, the design of dive watches for casual divers has remained similar.
It’s only natural, of course. When a watch is expected to have another function besides just telling the time, the form that complements this function is of utmost importance. For example, if the dive watch grew in size but the legibility of the dial remained the same, its function is severely hampered in the deep blue.
