Callum McGregor backs team-mate to reach goals milestone
CALLUM McGregor reckons it would be typical of Leigh Griffiths to reach the 100-goal milestone for Celtic in Sunday’s Glasgow derby at Hampden.
The hit-man netted for the 98th time in the Hoops to secure a 2-1 victory over Hamilton at New Douglas Park.
McGregor says Griffiths thrives on the big occasion, and he wouldn’t be surprised if his club colleague claimed a double in the Scottish Cup semi-final to join the exclusive Century Bhoys’ Club.
“You can never back against Griff, he’s that type of player,” he said. “He’s a big time player and once he gets one he could get two or three. He’s the type of boy who just shoots and more often than not it goes into the net.
“Reaching 100 goals would be a special achievement for him and all of the boys will be delighted and proud of him as well.”
