He Shoots... He Scores
CALLUM McGregor has made a habit of scoring on the big occasions and he popped up yet again with another valuable contribution in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The Hoops winger attributes his continuing rise as a Celt to Brendan Rodgers and says the relentless pursuit of success which the manager has instilled in the team will yield many more special moments for Celtic fans.
Just as he did in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers, McGregor again dealt the Ibrox side a blow when he added to the goal tally in Sunday’s 4-0 demolition of Graeme Murty’s team.
The goal epitomised McGregor’s playing style - intelligent, composed and efficient. Russell Martin failed to properly clear Kieran Tierney’s cross into the box and, having anticipated the situation, McGregor swooped in and curled the ball into the net with a magnificent finish.
“I saw KT going to put it in the box and I could see the body shape of Russell Martin when he went to clear it,” recalled McGregor. “I had an inclination that he might scuff it so I tried to get myself into the box and as it fell I just tried to keep it on target, keep it low and thankfully it went in.
