Megan Cunningham and her team-mates get set for the new SWPL season starting this Sunday.
THIS weekend marks the start of the new Scottish Women’s Premier League season and for the Celtic Women’s team, what better way to kick things off than a Glasgow derby.
The Hoops face Rangers this Sunday (February 11) at the K-Park Training Academy in East Kilbride in the first game of the 2018 season.
They will be looking to get a good result over their Glasgow rivals and send a message to Glasgow City and Hibernian who remain the teams to beat in the league.
As the team finalise their preparations for the first game, Celtic goalkeeper, Megan Cunningham took some time out from her packed schedule to discuss the season ahead.
How has pre-season been?
The break’s been good. We had a couple of weeks off so it’s been good to get some time to recover a bit. Our season can be quite long so it was nice to get a wee break from it. Pre-season’s gone well. We’ve signed a few new players and some have left so we’re just adjusting to changes. The squad’s been working really hard so we’re feeling good and it puts us in good stead for the season ahead. We signed a new centre-half, striker and winger so we’ve strengthened in every area and replaced the players we lost. Now it’s just a case of finding which positions work best for the squad and to find a formation to suit that.
