Call me a cynic, but when I look at online images of resorts, I sometimes suspect there may be a bit of photoshopping in play.
Upon entering my Grand Reserve Pool Villa at Santiburi Samui, a luxury retreat on the Thai island of Koh Samui, I was thrilled to see that it looked exactly like it did in the pictures!
My villa – one of 19 of this kind on the property – enjoyed complete privacy thanks to a walled garden. A master bedroom with comfy king-sized bed opened directly onto the private pool and sundeck, which meant I woke each day to a view of glistening blue water. It also had a cosy living room, and a spacious bathroom with his-and-her vanities, a tub and a rain shower. An in-room “mixology set” is provided for those wanting to try their hand at making cocktails. Who would want to leave?!
The Grand Reserve Pool Villas are housed in an exclusive enclave in Santiburi called The Reserve – almost like a resort within a resort – and they’re a perfect addition to the overall collection of Thai-inspired suites, garden villas, pool villas, beachfront villas and family-friendly duplexes.
