Alobo has performed in around 600 shows across India and at various international venues in the past five years
It all started with a dream; a dream to make music and win hearts. It isn’t easy to turn this dream into a reality but Alobo Naga from Nagaland has managed to do just that. His determination, modesty and commitment towards his art led him to become one of the biggest independent music artistes of Northeast India.
The Journey
He started his journey way before social media dominated our lives. He started at the tender age of five and by the time he was 12, his original compositions were already starting to take shape. At an age when most boys would be concerned about kicking an old ball around, Alobo was performing originals. During his formative years, he took part in many competitions and contests, and he won quite a few. He was the winner of Northeast India Audition for International Music Competition and Festival, Montenegro, held in Guwahati.
Alobo was also involved with a few bands prior to launching his solo album. In February 2010, Alobo released, ‘Road of a Thousand Dreams’ his debut solo album. ‘I sold 1000 physical copies of it in two-three days.’ Physical copies of the album vanished in no time.

MUSINGS OF A SOLDIER: TIT-BITS
People often ask me about my life out of uniform. Honestly, I have had no problems. Not so far. Instead, I find it quite refreshing. No routine, no parades, no briefing, no impending operations. Having donned the uniform since the age of thirteen until I hung up my boots last year, could I ever visualize life out of uniform? Not really. But, as I said, the transition has been quite smooth–no hang-overs, no regrets. People have been very positive in their interactions. Government departments have been responsive whenever I have approached for assistance. The genuine respect for the uniform is quite evident and it makes my heart swell with pride. Arunachal, to that extent, is the most nationalistic state in the country, I daresay. It has been kind of a revelation for me to experience the freedom of being a common man in an environment of positivity!
