Keeping the Football Fever Alive

It is no secret that the pandemic is affecting all walks of life, and sports in no exception. In order to stop the spread, athletes and players had to put a stop to group practices and training. For those competing in solo sports, it was a little less complicated but sportspersons pursuing group sports were faced with a conundrum, take the risk to train together or opt to train alone, which may be less effective. To help aspiring footballers who wanted to continue their training while not risking a potential infection, Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS) launched an app that will allow them to train anywhere anytime effectively, while also giving them the chance to motivate each other like they do on the pitch. We find out more about BBFS and the enJogo app.

Grassroots to Professionals

Launched on 30 October 2010, Bhaichung Bhutia Football School is India’s highest rated football school. As the name suggests, Indian football icon from Sikkim, Bhaichung Bhutia is one of the founding members along with Kishore Taid and Anurag Khilnani. With presence in 21 cities and two residential academies, the school wants to train young footballers and help them pursue careers in professional level football. ‘To give a reliable development pathway to our children, we also have a professional club - Garhwal Football Club. The club plays in I-League, 2nd Division,’ shared Kishor Taid.

MUSINGS OF A SOLDIER: TIT-BITS

People often ask me about my life out of uniform. Honestly, I have had no problems. Not so far. Instead, I find it quite refreshing. No routine, no parades, no briefing, no impending operations. Having donned the uniform since the age of thirteen until I hung up my boots last year, could I ever visualize life out of uniform? Not really. But, as I said, the transition has been quite smooth–no hang-overs, no regrets. People have been very positive in their interactions. Government departments have been responsive whenever I have approached for assistance. The genuine respect for the uniform is quite evident and it makes my heart swell with pride. Arunachal, to that extent, is the most nationalistic state in the country, I daresay. It has been kind of a revelation for me to experience the freedom of being a common man in an environment of positivity!
