Both India and Nepal to benefit from the 18 kilometre road, currently under construction, that will connect the eastern part of Nepal with Sikkim.
Amidst all the border disputes and geopolitical tussles with neighbouring China, an 18 kilometre road connecting the eastern part of Nepal with the western-most part of Sikkim aimed at strengthening Indo-Nepal relations has been sanctioned. The Himalayan State of Sikkim shares somewhere about 93 kilometres of its border with Nepal. The mentioned UttareyChewa Bhanjyang road, after its completion, hopes to bring equal opportunities for both countries in different sectors, mainly in the tourism sector.
A Long Road
‘Chewa Bhanjyang Pass, an important and popular pass in the Indo-Nepal border, is famous for trekking. The State government has started work on the 18 kilometre from Uttarey till the Nepal border (Chewa Bhanjyang) and it will most likely be completed by the month of December,’ stated MLA Maneybong, Dentam constituency, West Sikkim and Minister for Urban Development and Housing Development.
