Battled Danang now bustling with activity further by award-winning golf course.
Fifty-one years ago, American combat troops landed in Vietnam for the very first time along this very coast. Two thousand U.S marines marched ashore; that was the beginning of a 19-year-long bloodshed. Today, the site of what was once the American base is now bustling with tourists and millennials and without a trace of the past.
Situated along the coast of the Eastern Sea, Danang has transformed into an urbanised port city. Being the third largest city in the ‘Land of the Ascending Dragon’, Danang is also the commercial and educational centre of Central Vietnam. The tourism sector is a vital component of Danang’s economy. Its status as a transportation hub for Central Vietnam and its proximity to several Unesco World Heritage Sites, including the Imperial City of Hue, the Old Town of Hoi An, and the My Son ruins fuels much of its travel activity.
A vacation oriented city of its own, Da Nang boasts several world class hotels. The elusive InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, elegantly built Novotel Danang Premier Han River as well as Vinpearl’s Danang Resort & Villas, rank as some of the finest. The city is known ironically, for Ba Na Hills, a tranquil resort situated at the Truong Son Mountains, 25 minutes west of the city and the international airport.
The Ba Na Hills Golf Club located at the foothills of Truong Son mountain range, is an IMG managed masterpiece. Forget about the city as the championship golf course springs forth life into any golfer passionate enough to make the one-hour flight from Ho Chih Minh city. The amazing property is set among the most beautiful mist clutched mountains in the region, and the unique climate of the location ensures a round of golf set under 20 degrees Celsius; refreshing if compared to Singapore.
