The men of Prabhakar Pachpute’s landscapes are a dehumanised lot. Literally. They might be wearing the boots and vests and ripped denims, which, in a pre-hipster era, were the preserve of blue collar workers; but their heads are antennae, ploughs, helmet lamps, blades, horns, sickles. They’re metaphorically and, again, literally reduced to machines, as they are in the real world of coal mining.
