Turning 50 calls for some reflection. You have a stupendous career and a loving family. Is life everything you’d imagined it to be?

When I turned 40, it was the first time I felt that there was a shift. Till that point, one does not realise that age is a thing. It is like the aches and pains suddenly started the very next day. I felt it was a big shift emotionally, professionally, and personally, as I feel like I have so much more to achieve and have a bandwidth of about two and a half decades more to do it. There is so much to do, you have so many ambitions, thoughts, ideas, and you want to execute all of that. Emotionally, I took a call that I wanted to have children at that time. I have two beautiful children, whom I am coparenting with my mom. Professionally, the company assumed a larger proportion. We expanded our studio base, and have a digital arm, Dharmatic Entertainment, a talent management company called Dharma Cornerstone Agency, and an ad film division called Dharma 2.0.

Turning 50 to me feels like a milestone. It is just a number. All the changes that you would think that would happen to me now, already happened to me when I turned 40. In my head, I think I feel younger today. Last month I went for a complete health check-up just to make sure that everything is fine. The lifespan hits you at this age. You have to just be more wary because you have so much more of life to give to the loved ones around you that you want to make sure you are healthy. That is the big awareness.

You have started focusing on your fitness and you definitely look a lot fitter!
